Dilli isn't an emotion or a feeling, she is unpredictable, mysterious, roaring. Yes she's loud but she's also quiet when you need her to be. She's a little bit of everything. She is a tiny universe in its own. She is the first breeze of the winter that hits you like a train but holds you close and provides you with the comfort of the blazing masala chai that burns the tip of your tongue but you think it was worth it.
She is a home that stays with you forever, wherever you go, like a lover from another life. She is tight but a momentary hug that you've always needed, it's just that if she would've hugged you a bit longer, your soul might've healed.
Dilli is everything all at once, the calmness of Lodhi garden to the chaos of Jama masjid, she knows how to treat every mood of yours rightly. Dilli is a spider web, no wonder she has captured such a diverse population, it grabs hold of you so tightly that even when you move to another city, you keep thinking about its mystery. If you're quite enough, she will tell you a story. Stories of its people and stories of the bricks. People of Dilli have excuses to hold each other tighter, sit a bit more closer during the December but also have the excuse to put a bowl of water at every corner for the birds to quench their thirst from.
You need to live each moment when you're in Dilli, the minute you start waiting for that perfect
moment, you've lost because Dilli waits for no one. Lucky are those who understand this, because Dilli is a movie, a movie that you'll want to watch on repeat but if you close your eyes, the best shot will get lost and that one particular shot was the determining moment of you either rewatching it or skip it midway.
Even though Delhi doesn't treat your body right, it
treats your soul better than any city. From Paranthe wali gali to Majnu ka tilla, Dilli has become the melting point of so many cultures and lifestyle and that's what makes her so beautiful and welcoming. Those tiny 'gullis' make you feel less lonely and that's what people of Dilli need the most.
Dilli is a place for people with broken hearts, for people who want to be alone. It's also a place for
lovers, the people who enjoy the company of others. Dilli is one of the main centers of culture,
food, monuments, cafes, education and art in India all driven by the indomitable spirit of delhites.
Dilli isn't an emotion or a feeling, she is unpredictable, mysterious, roaring. She's a little bit of everything.
