"World of Infinite restarts. Start again at the beginning, this time you might win."

“That’s a game character’s life, too,” Sam said. “ The world of infinite restarts. Start again at the beginning, this time you might win.”

Written by Gabrielle Zevin , on 15th November 2022, from the United States, falling under fiction.

The main characters are Sadie, an American girl, a computer nerd student at MIT, and Sam Asian-American boy, a Harvard student with passion, and creative storytelling, their significant life revolves around each other playing, developing, designing and promoting games. Marx, everyone’s favourite to whomever he met, Sam’s best friend, and Dov, Sadie’s professor and boyfriend as well, also plays a huge part throughout the whole story.

It’s a complicated story, hard to sum up in this review. But it is sufficient, to make you crave to give it a read.

For the very first time, Sam and Sadie met in a hospital, he was there to recover from a car accident. She was visiting her ill sister. Encountered in the gaming room, Sam was playing Super Mario Bros. there. They talked about the games & started meeting regularly.

Separated by a misunderstanding in adolescence but brought back together in their college years thanks to a chance run-in on a subway platform. What starts off as a brief reunion turns into the most productive partnership of their lives: the creation of a smash-hit video game, the launch of a tech empire, and financial and artistic freedom beyond their wildest dreams.

The characters are elaborate and complex, lovable, and sometimes messy. They experience great success and devastating failure together. Sam and Sadie are so beautifully painted and still, they themselves weren’t able to describe their relationship. Throughout the story, they were more than friends & also more than lovers.

The story is not only focused on the game creation, and development parts, it also covers the hurdles of its journey, the complexity of situations and their most human solutions. There’s a major element about one of the protagonists, if mentioned, will potentially spoil the experience. Which is not a mystery in the book but had a complete series of events in it.

Among the top 10, in fact, 3rd in the bestseller list of the New York Times at the time of release in November 2022. Later the Book of the year.

The title has been taken from Shakespeare’s famous play where Macbeth describes his pain after losing his wife. This signifies that day-by-day people lead to their inevitable death.

Written in a non-linear timeline. Also, it makes you dive into the world of video games they’ve created.

Zevin has said that some fictional video games were inspired by real-life games and events. She also drew inspiration for her main characters from actual game designers. This is the narrative of the flawless worlds that Sadie and Sam create, the imperfect world in which they live, and all that comes with success: money and fame. Duplicity. Tragedy. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow explores the nature of identity, creativity, handicap, failure, the restorative potential in play, and, above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love.

Initially, the book Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow takes time to set up the story and its characters, which may seem longer. But after consuming it you won’t regret in fact celebrating the ending after all of its beautiful, tragic, mesmerizing, terrible, dramatic events.
